    ABUSIVE THERAPEUTIC PRACTICES

Abuse - Behaviour Modification & Aversive Therapy

In the earlier part of this century we believed that the new Behavioral Sciences, with a cunning scheme of rewards and punishments, would remove difficult behaviors effortlessly.  I think that dream is dead.  I hope so.  I hope that we have come to a point in our history where we have started to recognize that: the end point of pure thought is probably death; that we are not going to think our way out of  these problems; and that we require a new respect for the irrational, the intuitive, and the felt.  We are discovering that we need people who step out of the mold of what we created..to remind us who we are and who we need to be for  one and other.

EUTHANASIA AND PHYSICIAN ASSISTED SUICIDE

The Murder of Tracy Latimer
Tracy Latimer was a 12 year old girl with cerebral palsy who lived with her family on a farm near Wilkie, Saskatchewan.  On Oct 24, 1993, Tracy's father, Robert Latimer, decided that Tracy's life wasn't worth living.  He placed Tracy in the cab of his truck and fed carbon monoxide into the cab.  Initially he claimed  that Tracy died in her sleep but later confessed that he killed her for merciful reasons.  Over the last 8 years of court proceedings, there has been a huge debate in the Canadian Public whether Robert Latimer should serve a jail sentence for murdering his daughter.
